Admission Requirements
Each Purdue University Calumet degree program has specific requirements that you must meet in order to enroll. Please read the admission guidelines for the program in which you are interested. For specific questions or more details, view our admission FAQs.
School of Nursing
Bachelor of Science, Nursing
Applicants must meet the following requirements for Bachelor of Science, Nursing admission:
- Complete Purdue University Calumet Application
- Applicant must be officially accepted by the university before his or her application can be considered by admission to the School of Nursing.
- Minimum GPA of 2.5/4.0.
- Graduated from a regionally accredited agency (View list of agencies)
Regionally accredited agencies include:
- MSA - Middle States Association of Colleges & Schools
- NWCCU - Northwest Commission on Colleges & Universities
- NCA-HLC - North Central Association of Colleges & Schools
- NEASC-CIHE - New England Association of Schools & Colleges
- SACS - Southern Association of Colleges & Schools
- WASC - ACCJU Western Association of Schools & Colleges for Community & Junior Colleges
- WASC - ACSCU-Western Association of Schools & Colleges for Senior Colleges & Universities
- Successfully completed an associate degree or diploma program in nursing from an NLNAC (National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission) accredited program.
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse
- Completion of 62 semester credit hours of lower division courses, distributed as follows:
- 17 credits in approved science courses
- 12 credits in humanities and social sciences
- 3 credits in elective courses
- 30 credits in Nursing Courses
- Note: Graduates of associate degree nursing programs who do not have the required 30 hours of nursing credit will have their academic records evaluated on an individual basis.
- Students must have all lower division requirements completed prior to admission.
Transferring Credit from Another RNBS Completion Program
The residency rule at Purdue Calumet requires that at least 32 credit hours at the 300 level or higher must be completed at our institution in order to receive a Purdue Degree. The 35 credit hours in the nursing core courses for this RN BS Completion Program are used to fulfill that requirement. Applicants wishing to transfer nursing coursework in at the 300 level may not (in most cases) be able to do so because of the residency rule. Requests for evaluation of nursing transfer credit at the upper division will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Transferring From Another College
An applicant transferring from another college must submit:
- A completed application for admission
- $30.00 transfer evaluation fee
- Official college/university transcripts from each institution attended
- Copy of RN license number

Please note: Electronic transcripts are deemed acceptable by the Undergraduate Admissions Department at Purdue University Calumet and must be sent directly by your respective college and/or university to BSN_ADMS@purduecal.edu.

- Complete online application and submit $60 non-refundable application fee ($70 for international students)
- Have ready three names and email addresses for recommenders to be submitted on your application.
- Have ready a Curriculum Vitae or résumé for upload
- Submit an Administrative Supplement
- Submit 2 official transcripts for every institution of higher education attended.
- Submit 2 copies of your teaching license / certificate.
- Undergraduate degree from accredited institution
- Cumulative GPA requirement of at least 3.00/4.00
- Valid teaching license
- Minimum 1 year regular/classroom teaching contract

Conditional Admission Requirements
A complete file for conditional admission consideration consists of the following:
- Complete online application and submit $60 non-refundable application fee ($70 for international students)
- Have ready three names and email addresses for recommenders to be submitted on your application
- Have ready a Curriculum Vitae or résumé for upload
- Submit an Administrative Supplement
- Submit 2 official transcripts for every institution of higher education attended
- Submit 2 copies of your teaching license/certificate
- Undergraduate degree from accredited institution
- Cumulative GPA requirement of at least 2.75/4.00
- Valid teaching license
- Minimum 1 year regular/classroom teaching contract
International degree-seeking applicants whose native language is not English are required to submit Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) scores for Purdue University Calumet Graduate School admission. The Graduate School accepts valid TOEFL scores earned through the paper-based test and Internet-based test. The minimum paper-based test score required for admission is 550. The minimum Internet-based test scores required for admission are the following:
- Writing 18
- Speaking 18
- Listening 14
- Reading 19
